Microsoft Communicator status not displayed in Outlook

Posted by & filed under Uncategorized.

When writing a new email in Outlook and you also use Microsoft Communicator, Outlook can display the current status in real time of the people you are writing to.

If Outlook is not displaying the status like it should, check the following option:

Outlook 2007:

  • Tools
  • Options
  • Other tab
  • Check the box next to “Display online status next to a person name”

Outlook 2010:

  • File
  • Options
  • Contacts
  • Check the box next to “Display online status next to name”

Any idea what to do if it is working for everyone’s online status except my own?

Try rebuilding your Outlook’s .OST file to force it to communicate with the server again.
    Close Outlook
    Go to your user folder
Click on AppData, Local, Microsoft, then Outlook. Rename any files that end in .OST to end in .OLD.
Open Outlook and have it rebuild your online cache.
